Abstract:Beginning with some basic concepts of psychophysics of color， the auther analyzes the tmditional theory of color perception in ancient China. including the theory of Yin –Yang-Five-Color. a contrast between the Chinese tradition which puts much importance on form and the Indian tradition which emphasize color;the Legalist’s Xing-Ming-Shuo(theory of punishment items),theLogician’s separation of form from color and Taoist’s Black Mirror and Buddhist’s bright Mirror which embody two different theories of visual perception and two different epistemological approaches.In the end ,the autbor comes up with an ideal model which can indicate simultaneously all the three attributes of color.
